Friendship is Dragons is a webcomic that uses screenshots from the show to retell episodes of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. It updates three times a week on a regular schedule.

The story is reimagined as a roleplaying adventure. The main ponies are played by six humans, some of whom are experienced, some of whom are new to roleplaying; all the other characters, and the narrator, are "played" by the Dungeon Master. Neither the players nor the Dungeon Master have been depicted, but their out-of-character discussions are featured in the comic along with the "proper" dialogue. The adaptation of the first two episodes finished on March 27, 2012, with the players outmaneuvering the Dungeon Master: they accidentally defeat Nightmare Moon early and therefore skip most of the weeks-long campaign the DM had planned. (The DM's original plan was to let Nightmare Moon win at first without the players being able to do anything, and then let the players try to revive the Elements of Harmony on the following sessions.) Much like in the original episode, the players pressure the DM to come up with another campaign because they have decided to stay with the pony setting for a little while longer. The comic hosts regular guest comics between the storylines.

So far, Friendship is Dragons has had five storylines, not including a break in the middle of the first one. The first one is similar to the series premiere, Friendship is Magic Part 1 and 2. The second is based on Dragonshy, the third on Bridle Gossip, the fourth one contains three episodes; a brief storyline from Swarm of the Century, leading into A Bird in the Hoof and A Dog and Pony Show. The fifth storyline is base on Feeling Pinkie Keen, but also uses elements from several other episodes.
