Canterlot Defender is a game made by futzi01 in Adobe Flash, featuring art by Stabzor and BonesWolbach, and music by Interrobangpie. The 8-bit ponies were taken from desktopponies.com. It is a point-and-click third-person 2-D shooter, with the current version being 1.4 (May 23, 2012). It is based off the scene in the episode "A Canterlot Wedding - Part 2" where the mane 6 fight against the horde of changelings.
The goal of the game is to destroy the changelings before they fly from one end of the screen to the other. To do so, the player must primarily use Twilight's laser beams to shoot the changelings, as well as applying special attacks featuring the rest of the mane 6. If ten changelings make it past Twilight, the game ends and the player is given their score based off how long they survived, as well as how many changelings were blasted.
The player points and clicks to make Twilight fire laser beams from her horn with the mouse pointer. Doing so decreases the magic bar. If the magic bar is fully depleted, the player will be unable to use Twilight's laser, until the bar regenerates completely. The player can also make special attacks with the rest of the mane 6 by clicking on the number keys.
- Applejack: Kicks a barrel of exploding apples at the changelings.
- Fluttershy: Restores the magic bar and prevents it from depleting for a short period of time.
- Pinkie Pie: Fires her party cannon at the changelings to destroy them.
- Rarity: Launches "missile" gems out of the ground to destroy the changelings.
- Rainbow Dash: Flies across the screen ramming into the changelings to destroy them.
The game also features an easter egg where if the player enters the Konami Code during gameplay, a sixth special attack will appear, featuring Derpy Hooves jumping up and down upon a raincloud electrocuting the changelings, and then herself.
